Program Details
Eligibility

The applicant must be a graduate of an emergency medicine residency program, board eligible or certified in emergency medicine.

Length and Schedule

The fellowship is a two-year program. Each year -52 weeks total- is divided as follows:

  1. 36 weeks clinical work at RUSH and CCH and doing MPH studies

  2. 10 weeks with IMC in developing countries

  3. 2 weeks in a developed country

  4. 4 weeks vacation

One to two per year

Salary

Salary is very competitive. Benefits, tuition fees for the MPH, travel expenses and stipends are provided.

Fellow Evaluation

The fellowship director will provide the fellow with a written formal overall evaluation every six months. The fellow will be evaluated by the chairmen of both emergency departments at Stroger Cook County and Rush hospitals for clinical domestic performance, by IMC for international fieldwork, and by the school of public health at UIC.

Curriculum Evaluation

Every six months, the fellow will provide the fellowship director with a written evaluation of the clinical, administrative, and educational experience. Relevance to the overall fellowship objectives and goals will be discussed, and adjustments will be made accordingly.
